Visit Abg Mohsin

after completing our visit to the grave of BgChin, who rests at Plot P9‑3‑0771, Raudhatul Sakinah Muslim Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur, we stood quietly in prayer...

ya Allah, forgive all of his sins, shower him with Your mercy, and grant him peace in his resting place... enlarge and illuminate his grave, and place him among those who are loved and accepted by You... grant patience and strength to the family left behind, and reunite us all one day in Your everlasting paradise...

Kuala Lumpur Area

we continued our Hari Raya visits around the Kuala Lumpur area... orr first stop was at Batu 5, Kepong, visiting Nde Zerma... from there, we headed to PPR Laksamana to spend time with Ami Mohd, before concluding the day at Jalan Budiman 2, Cheras, at Kak Da’s home... each visit, though brief, carried its own warmth - simple moments of connection that truly define the spirit of Hari Raya...

Car Wash

I’m usually the one washing my own car, but this time around, I decided to wash my wife’s car instead... a small change, but a meaningful gesture - sometimes caring is shown in the simplest routines...

Oppa Kitchen

Oppa Kitchen at Saujana Utama is a popular halal‑friendly Korean restaurant located at 07‑G, Jalan Bidara 7/1, Bandar Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh, Selangor, well known among locals for serving comforting Korean home‑style dishes in a cozy, Korean‑inspired setting... the restaurant operates Tuesday to Sunday from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm, remains closed on Mondays, and on Fridays breaks briefly between 12:45 pm and 2:00 pm, making it suitable for our visits... among its signature dishes are Beef Sundubu Jjigae, Kimchi Jjigae, Bulgogi, Japchae, seafood pancakes, and rice‑based sets such as Bulgogi Deopbap, all praised for their authentic flavours, generous portions, and satisfying banchan accompaniments, with some outlets also offering Korean BBQ options...

Morning Walk

a morning walk with 6,625 steps brings many health benefits... it helps improve heart health, boosts blood circulation, and supports weight management by burning calories... regular walking also strengthens muscles and joints, reduces stress, improves mood, and enhances mental clarity for the day ahead... most importantly, it promotes consistency in an active lifestyle - small steps that lead to long-term wellness...

Kg Jerang

only 5 cars made the rounds for Hari Raya visits in Jerang - mine, Helmi’s, Ali’s, Feisal’s, and Ibrahim’s... though modest in number, the journey was rich in warmth and hospitality... at Tok’s house, we were treated to laksa; at Tok Sepiah’s, the unmistakable flavours of ikan patin tempoyak awaited us... Ami Mat Satay welcomed us with nasi lemak, while Ami Mat Sofea served an assortment of traditional kuih‑muih... our final stop was at Nde Nini’s father’s house, where we enjoyed a hearty meal of nasi kambing... simple visits, sincere hosts, and shared meals - these are the moments that truly define the spirit of Hari Raya...

Malaysian Coach

this is my biras, Syed Ibrahim Al‑Yahya... ever since Kim Pan‑Gon became the head coach of the Malaysian national team, there’s been a slight resemblance - at least that’s what people say... but of course, in my completely unbiased view, he is far more handsome...

Open House

the second day of Hari Raya is traditionally the main open-house gathering here, where relatives from near and far come together under one roof... it is a time when family bonds are renewed and familiar faces fill the house once again... as always, the table was set with traditional favourites - soto ayam enjoyed together with KNgah’s nasi lemak, rendang, serunding, lemang, nasi impit, peanut gravy, and more...

this year, however, many family members spent the festivities at their respective in-laws’ homes... as a result, the long‑standing tradition of giving out duit raya was observed only after all guests had departed, bringing the day to a quiet but meaningful close...

Heading to Simpang Durian

after performing the Subuh prayer in congregation, we immediately began preparing for our journey to Simpang Durian, Jelebu... we refueled at Caltex Jalan Sultanah and entered the Alor Setar Utara toll at exactly 7:00 am... a short stop was made at the R&R Gunung Semanggol for breakfast... we arrived safely home at 12:30 in the afternoon... the traffic throughout the journey was generally smooth, with congestion affecting only the northbound lanes...

after a brief rest at home and changing clothes, we started both the car and the motorcycle... at 1:00 pm, we set off for Simpang Durian via the Elite route... traffic congestion began to build while descending Bukit Tangga, caused by a bottleneck where the road narrowed from two lanes into a single lane leading into the village road towards Kelawang... we were caught there for about 20 minutes, but fortunately, assistance from RELA and the PDRM in Kelawang helped to ease the situation...

the Kelawang-Simpang Pertam stretch was manageable, although traffic density limited speeds to a maximum of about 70 km/h... along the way, a car behind me - WVC 5985 - kept tailgating aggressively... I had no issue giving way; whenever someone wants to overtake, I would usually slow down to allow it... however, that driver hesitated... suddenly, another car behind him, WJT 1091, attempted to overtake from the left... once the manoeuvre started, the car behind refused to give way - and that was when an accident occurred...

what was meant to be a peaceful Hari Raya journey turned into an unfortunate incident, involving unexpected expenses for vehicle repairs... I did not stop and continued on my way to Simpang Durian...
the moral of the story is simple but important: remove ego from the road... there is no loss in giving way... yielding does not diminish us - it only prevents unnecessary harm...

Visiting Mak

after the photo session at the grounds of Masjid Al-Bukhary, we proceeded straight to the cemetery... there, we visited the grave of my dearly beloved Mak...

ya Allah, we humbly beseech You - grant forgiveness for all of Mak’s sins, widen her grave, and fill it with light... shower her with mercy, as she showed me compassion from the moment I was in her womb, through infancy, childhood, adulthood, and until her final breath... truly, Mak was the best mother I could ever have...

ya Allah, ease her journey when she is raised once more and guide her safely towards Your place of gathering... ya Allah, make her scale of good deeds heavy, so that she may enter Your paradise, led by our grandfather, Rasulullah SAW...

Masjid Al-Bukhary

after completing our Hari Raya visits with Walid, we sent them home straight away... Walid was already feeling tired and needed some time to rest... from there, we headed directly to Masjid Al-Bukhary, where we took family photographs to mark Aidilfitri 2023 - simple moments captured as lasting memories of togetherness...

Visiting Dato' Syed Mansor Barakbah

the children of Dato’ Syed Mansor Barakbah fall into different ranks of kinship with me - some as elder sisters, others as brothers or younger siblings... during the gathering, I had the chance to meet Kak Maznah (Datuk Sharifah Maznah), the younger sister of Dato’ Syed Mansor... her son, Megat Shahril Rezal, was someone I used to play football and futsal with back in the day... it was only much later, after connecting the family ties more carefully, that I realized my position in the lineage - I am, in fact, regarded as Ami...
