Feeling Sleepy

at times, I may not even realize how drowsy I am until I briefly drift off to sleep... it could be due to exhaustion, or perhaps the body is simply sending a signal that it needs a short rest - a moment to reset itself... indeed, it is often true that upon waking from even a brief nap, the body feels refreshed and revitalized...

Bintang Walk

we took a leisurely walk along Bintang Walk, one of Kuala Lumpur’s most lively and popular urban promenades, located in the heart of Bukit Bintang... beyond shopping and entertainment, it is especially well known for its wide variety of food and beverage options, catering to all tastes and budgets... the area is lined with everything from street food stalls and cafés to international restaurants and upscale dining outlets, offering local favourites such as nasi lemak, satay, char kuey teow, roti canai, as well as Japanese, Korean, Middle Eastern, Western, and fusion cuisine... well‑known spots like Jalan Alor, cafes, dessert shops, and beverage outlets serving coffee, bubble tea, fresh juices, and desserts add to the vibrant atmosphere... in the evenings, the combination of glowing city lights, bustling crowds, and the aroma of food creates an energetic and inviting scene, making it an ideal place for casual dining, people‑watching, and soaking in Kuala Lumpur’s cosmopolitan lifestyle...

Sweetree Restaurant

after picking up Azim and Abyana at PPD Hulu Langat, we headed straight to Sweetree restaurant to celebrate my birthday, marking the occasion with a pleasant and meaningful family gathering over a meal... it is a popular Halal Korean fine‑dining restaurant located at 13, Jalan Ampang Putra, Taman Putra Sulaiman, 68000 Ampang, Selangor, set within a row of easily accessible shoplots slightly away from Kuala Lumpur’s busiest city centre... the restaurant typically operates daily from around 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm, making it suitable for both lunch and dinner gatherings, with timings varying slightly depending on the platform or day... it is especially known for serving authentic Korean cuisine prepared to halal standards, and its signature dishes include Dol Sot Bibimbap, Sun Dubu Jjigae, Cheese Tteokbokki (Topokki), Korean fried chicken, Bulgogi, and a variety of Korean pancakes (pajeon), all complemented by traditional side dishes (banchan)... with its Korean‑themed interior, spacious seating, and reputation as a venue for my birthday, it has become a well‑regarded destination for us seeking a refined yet welcoming Korean dining experience...

Discovery Day

a total of 320 secondary school students from across the Klang Valley participated in Discovery Day at UNITAR, a university outreach programme designed to give students firsthand exposure to campus life and higher‑education learning... I was assigned to manage the Marketing‑themed booth during the morning session, where students engaged in interactive activities, received briefings on basic marketing concepts, and explored potential career pathways in the field... in the afternoon session, I took on the role of overall judge, evaluating and determining the winning school based on criteria such as creativity, teamwork, confidence, and quality of presentation... through this immersive experience, participating students were able to experience the learning environment at UNITAR, interact with academic staff, explore campus facilities, and gain clearer insight into university life and future study options, making Discovery Day both an educational and inspirational programme for them...

Abang Mahdi at IJN

visiting Abang Mahdi at the National Heart Institute provided clarity and reassurance regarding his condition, as cardiologists confirmed that 3 additional coronary arteries are blocked and, given his history of a previous mild stroke, bypass surgery is the safest and most appropriate treatment option, with stent placement no longer advisable... one of IJN’s key strengths lies in its position as Malaysia’s premier cardiac referral centre, supported by highly experienced cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and specialized cardiac nurses who routinely manage complex and high‑risk heart cases... although IJN handles an exceptionally high volume of cardiac patients, its structured triage system, advanced diagnostic facilities, and evidence‑based treatment protocols ensure that patients receive the most suitable care plan, which is why he has been scheduled for surgery within approximately one month, allowing for optimal preparation and safety... with its state‑of‑the‑art technology, multidisciplinary expertise, and comprehensive post‑operative monitoring, IJN offers confidence not only in the surgical outcome but also in long‑term recovery and quality of life, making it a trusted institution for him...

TVET Workshop

this TVET Workshop, organized as the first programme by the PIBG for Azim’s class this year, was held at GIATMARA Jelebu, a TVET centre under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), located at Kampung Desa Semarak, Jalan Titi, 71650 Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan... it plays an important role in providing practical, hands‑on skills training in the district, with programmes such as Electrical Wiring (PW2 - single and 3 phase), Motorcycle Technology and Maintenance, and Fashion and Dressmaking, all designed to prepare trainees for employment and entrepreneurship in technical fields... through this workshop, students were exposed to the real learning environment of a TVET institution, enabling them to experience workshop‑based instruction, observe industry‑standard equipment, and gain early awareness of career pathways beyond conventional academic routes, in line with PIBG’s aim to broaden students’ future educational and career options...

Aidil Adha 2025

UNITAR international students had an opportunity to experience the local tradition of qurban in Kampung Jerang, Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, giving them meaningful cultural and religious exposure beyond the campus setting... the group consisted of 4 international students from Yemen, Syria, Nigeria, and Uzbekistan, accompanied by 1 local student from Sabah, a UNITAR hostel warden, a staff member from the marketing department, and a van driver... they departed early from Kelana Jaya and arrived in time for them to perform the Aidil Adha sunnah prayer at Masjid Kampung Jerang, where they were warmly welcomed by the local community... throughout the day, they observed and learned about the qurban process - from community coordination and the spirit of togetherness to the distribution of meat - while engaging with villagers and gaining firsthand insight into Malay rural traditions rooted in Islamic values... for many of the international students, this was their first experience witnessing qurban in a Malaysian village, offering them a deeper appreciation of unity, humility, and charity as practiced locally, while also allowing them to compare it with traditions from their home countries... the visit was conducted as a day trip, and after a meaningful and educational experience, the group departed Kampung Jerang at around 3:00 pm, returning safely to Kelana Jaya... overall, the experience fostered intercultural understanding, strengthened community engagement, and left a lasting impression on the students about the warmth and inclusivity of Malaysian Muslim traditions...

Patin de Tanjung

we had the opportunity to enjoy lunch at a familiar and meaningful place, Patin De Tanjung in Temerloh, affectionately run by Kay, a former UNITAR staff member and longtime librarian, now successfully venturing into the food and hospitality industry... it is located at Lot 479, Jalan Tanjung Keramat, Kampung Bangau Tanjung, 28000 Temerloh, Pahang, an area well known for its strong association with traditional river‑fish cuisine, as Temerloh is widely regarded as the Patin Capital of Malaysia... the restaurant operates daily from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm, except Thursdays when it is closed, making it a popular lunch destination for us...

the signature dish is the classic Patin Tempoyak, where fresh river patin is cooked in a rich, aromatic gravy made from fermented durian, offering the perfect balance of savoury, sour, and spicy flavours... other popular offerings include patin gulai, asam pedas patin, and patin bakar, all prepared using locally sourced ingredients and traditional Pahang recipes that highlight the natural sweetness of the fish... what makes the experience even more special is the relaxed river‑side atmosphere, coupled with the presence of floating chalets on the same premises, allowing us to enjoy both authentic Temerloh cuisine and a tranquil riverside stay... overall, it stands out not only for its flavourful patin dishes, but also for its warm hospitality and the inspiring journey of its owner, making it a memorable spot for both food and fellowship...
