this was the second time I set foot at here, a mosque of immense historical and spiritual significance in Medina... Quba mosque is the first mosque in the history of Islam, founded in 1 Hijrah (622) when Rasulullah SAW arrived in the outskirts of Medina during his migration from Mecca... Rasulullah SAW stayed in the village of Quba for several days and personally participated in laying the foundation stones of the mosque, establishing it as a centre of worship, unity, and community from the very beginning of the Muslim society... Al-Quran itself highlights the virtue of this mosque, describing it as a mosque founded on righteousness from the first day (Surah At‑Tawbah, 9:108)... Rasulullah SAW later continued to visit Quba mosque regularly - often every Saturday - praying there and encouraging his companions to do the same, promising that praying 2 rakaah here carries the reward of an Umrah... revisiting this blessed place brings a deep sense of connection to the origins of Islam, humility, and gratitude, reminding us of how faith was built step by step, grounded in sincerity, simplicity, and devotion to Allah SWT...

Quba Mosque
the mutawif explained the historical significance of the site known as the House of the Companion Saad bin Khaythamah RA, which holds a special place in the early history of Medina... he was one of the Ansar from the Aws tribe and among the early supporters of Islam... his house is traditionally remembered as one of the places where Rasulullah SAW stayed and met his companions during the early period after the Hijrah... because Rasulullah SAW did not yet have a permanent residence upon arriving in Medina, gatherings, discussions, and consultations with the groups often took place in the homes of trusted companions, including this house... this location later became associated with the establishment of brotherhood between the Muhajirin and the Ansar, serving as a setting where unity, consultation, and community building took place... although the original structure no longer exists today, the site remains historically meaningful, reminding visitors that Islam was nurtured not only in mosques but also in humble homes - through sincerity, hospitality, sacrifice, and close companionship with Rasulullah SAW...
at the next stop, the mutawif explained the significance of the house of the Companion Kulthum bin al‑Hadm RA, an important site in the early history of Islam in Madinah... he was a respected leader from the Banu Amr bin Awf tribe, and his house in Quba was the very first lodging place of Rasulullah SAW after the Hijrah from Mecca in 1 Hijrah (622)... when Rasullullah SAW arrived at Quba, he stayed at this house for several days while Quba mosque was being established, making this house a focal point of the earliest Muslim community in Medina... from here, Rasulullah SAW met companions, gave guidance, and laid the foundations of a society built on faith, brotherhood, and consultation... although the original structure no longer exists today, the location is remembered as a place of deep historical value, symbolizing hospitality, sacrifice, and the honour bestowed upon the Ansar who welcomed and supported Rasulullah SAW at the most critical moment of Islamic history... visiting this site offers a powerful reminder that the beginnings of Islam were shaped not only in grand spaces, but also within humble homes filled with sincerity and devotion...
the mutawif also shared the history of Ares Well, more accurately known as Bir al‑Khatim (the well of the seal), a well of notable significance in Medina during the time of Rasulullah SAW... this well is famously associated with the ring of Rasulullah SAW, which he used as a seal on official correspondence... during the caliphate of Uthman ibn Affan RA, the ring accidentally fell into this well and was lost, despite extensive efforts to retrieve it... the loss of the ring was deeply felt by the companions, as it symbolized both the Prophetic authority and continuity of leadership following Rasulullah SAW... located in the vicinity of Quba mosque, the well was once a water source actively used by the early Muslim community... although the well is no longer in use or easily visible today, its historical importance remains strong, serving as a poignant reminder of the human moments in the lives of the Rasulullah SAW and the friends, and the transitions faced by the early Muslim ummah during a formative period of Islamic history...
