chao mung means welcome, and it perfectly described our arrival experience as we landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) at 7:00 pm... SGN is the oldest and busiest airport in Vietnam, originally established during the French colonial era as a military airfield, and it has since undergone multiple phases of expansion and modernization... significant upgrades include the opening of a new International Terminal in 2007 and the recent launch of a new Domestic Terminal in April 2025, allowing SGN to operate two terminals simultaneously to support both international and domestic flights... from our experience, however, the immigration clearance process took about 45 minutes, a delay commonly mentioned by many travelers... for those seeking a faster option, a fast‑track lane is available at a cost of 800,000 Vietnamese dong, which noticeably reduces waiting time - an approach that can be seen as part of the airport’s revenue‑enhancement strategy... after clearing immigration, we travelled to our hotel by Grab, a journey that took approximately 45 minutes... we checked in at Vilion Boutique Hotel, located in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, our room number 403, freshened up, performed our prayers, and then headed out to Malaysian Street, located just a 10‑minute walk from the hotel, bringing the first evening of our Vietnam trip to a pleasant and relaxed close...
