Follow-Up

I attended a follow‑up appointment with Dr. Liew, arriving at Ara Damansara at 9:30 am... upon arrival, I completed the registration process and had blood samples taken as part of the routine assessment... the consultation with Dr. Liew took place at 11:10 am, allowing for a thorough review of my condition and progress...

the blood test results indicate that most of the key health markers are within normal and healthy ranges, reflecting good overall metabolic, liver, and kidney function... the glucose level (5.0 mmol/L) is normal, suggesting good blood sugar control... the lipid profile shows very low total cholesterol (2.5 mmol/L) and LDL cholesterol (1.1 mmol/L), which are favourable for heart health, although the HDL cholesterol (0.9 mmol/L) is slightly below the optimal range and could be improved with lifestyle measures such as regular physical activity... triglycerides (1.0 mmol/L) are within the normal range.

electrolytes such as sodium (140 mmol/L) and chloride (107 mmol/L) are normal, while potassium (5.6 mmol/L) is mildly elevated and may require monitoring, especially in the context of medications or kidney function... kidney markers show normal creatinine (88 µmol/L) and a good eGFR of 89 ml/min/1.73m², indicating preserved kidney function... liver health is also reassuring, with ALT at 25 U/L, which is well within the normal range... overall, the results are largely reassuring, with only minor values that may warrant observation rather than immediate concern...

Dr. Liew prescribed a 4‑month course of medication as part of a comprehensive treatment plan aimed at protecting the heart, controlling blood sugar levels, managing cholesterol, and preventing gastric complications... Pantoprazole (Pantor) 40 mg, taken once daily before breakfast, helps reduce stomach acid and protects the stomach lining, especially important when long‑term antiplatelet medications are used... CASprin 100 mg (Aspirin) and Clopidogrel 75 mg are taken every morning to prevent blood clots by reducing platelet aggregation, which is crucial for cardiovascular protection, particularly after stent placement or in patients with heart disease...

for diabetes management, Ryzodeg insulin is administered at 16 IU in the morning and evening, combining fast‑acting insulin aspart with long‑acting insulin degludec to provide both immediate and sustained blood glucose control throughout the day... this is complemented by Jardiance Duo (Empagliflozin 12.5 mg + Metformin 1000 mg) taken twice daily, which works by improving insulin sensitivity, reducing glucose production, and promoting glucose excretion through the urine, thereby enhancing overall glycaemic control and offering additional cardiovascular benefits...

lastly, Rosuvastatin 20 mg, taken before sleep, is used to lower LDL cholesterol and stabilize blood vessel plaques, significantly reducing the risk of future cardiovascular events... together, this medication regimen supports heart health, metabolic control, and long‑term disease prevention through a balanced and targeted approach...

the total cost of the prescribed medications for the 4‑month period amounts to RM2,853.20, which is approximately RM713.30 per month... in addition, laboratory charges total RM157, medical record service fees are RM5, and consultation fees amount to RM105... altogether, the overall cost comes to RM3,120.20, and the expenses are claimable under Prudential, providing financial relief for the ongoing treatment and follow‑up care...

my next follow‑up appointment with Dr. Liew has been scheduled for 5 June 2026... this upcoming consultation will allow for a review of my progress, blood results, and response to the current medication plan, ensuring that my treatment continues to move in the right direction...
