AES to Alor Setar

the Automated Enforcement System (AES) is Malaysia’s automated road‑safety enforcement initiative designed to detect and record traffic violations such as speeding and running red lights... introduced on 22 September 2012, AES operates through strategically installed cameras along federal roads, highways, and accident‑prone areas to ensure transparent, accurate, and consistent monitoring of driver behaviour... there were 5 AES cameras along the journey to Alor Setar today... impressive, really.... we once thought they didn’t want these things anymore, but it seems the number keeps increasing... if you feel like speeding, be prepared - 5 times RM300 will be waiting for you... they say it’s all for safety, so just follow the speed limit, fair enough... but the important thing is this: make sure the camera is placed at the 110 km/h zone... don’t go installing them in areas with limits of 90 km/h or below - at that point, it’s no longer a highway; you might as well call it a low‑way... safe driving to all the Kedah folks heading back to the Jelapang Padi!
