Follow Up

this was my second follow-up appointment after being discharged following the placement of my second and third stents in January... I arrived at Ara Damansara Medical Centre as early as 8:30 am for blood tests and an Echo 2D + M-Mode + Doppler examination before meeting with Dr. Liew... after completing my blood pressure and weight check, I headed to At a Glance for a Hot Tropics Sourdough Tartine... this dish is not only delicious but also offers several nutritional benefits... the sourdough bread provides complex carbohydrates and is generally easier to digest due to its natural fermentation process... depending on the toppings, a tropical tartine often contains fresh fruits such as mango, pineapple, or other tropical ingredients that are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and dietary fiber... these nutrients help support the immune system, improve digestion, and provide sustained energy throughout the day...

my blood test results were encouraging... my blood glucose level was within the normal range at 4.5 mmol/L, while my HbA1c was 5.7% (38.78 mmol/L), indicating good long-term blood sugar control... my total cholesterol was 2.9 mmol/L, with HDL cholesterol at 1.0 mmol/L, LDL cholesterol at 1.5 mmol/L, and triglycerides at 0.8 mmol/L, reflecting a well-controlled lipid profile... my sodium level was 139 mmol/L, which was within the normal range... for my hypertension and kidney function profile, the results showed potassium at 5.1 mmol/L, chloride at 105 mmol/L, creatinine at 85 µmol/L, and an eGFR-CKD-EPI creatinine equation result of more than 90 ml/min/1.73m², indicating good kidney function... my ALT level was 21 U/L, suggesting normal liver function... overall, the blood test results were satisfactory and indicated that my diabetes, cholesterol, kidney function, and liver function were well managed...

during the consultation, Dr. Liew informed me that I could gradually increase my exercise intensity and resume normal physical activities... however, he advised me to focus more on building muscle strength and to reduce excessive running, instead emphasizing brisk walking to help protect my knees and maintain cardiovascular fitness... he also issued a Pharmacy Prescription Form, allowing me to purchase my medications from other pharmacies... the prescribed medications included Casprin 100 mg, which helps prevent blood clot formation; Generic Clopidogrel 75 mg, another antiplatelet medication that reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke; Generic Rosuvastatin 20 mg, which lowers LDL cholesterol and reduces cardiovascular risk; SC Ryzodeg 16 units, an insulin preparation used to control blood glucose levels; Generic Pantoprazole 40 mg, which reduces stomach acid and protects the stomach lining; and Generic Metformin XR 1 g, an extended-release medication commonly used to improve blood sugar control in patients with diabetes...

the total bill for this visit was RM1,157.00, comprising RM225.00 for blood tests, RM924.00 for the Echo 2D + M-Mode + Doppler examination, and RM8.00 for the medical report... my next follow-up appointment has been scheduled for 5 December, during which only blood tests will be required... overall, the consultation was reassuring, and the positive test results indicate that my recovery and health management plan are progressing well...
